High-Efficiency Electric Distilled Water Machine: Principle, Industry Applications and Supporting Facilities

1. Working Principle

The high-efficiency electric distilled water machine (often called electric multi-effect distilled water machine) adopts electric heating falling film evaporation + multi-effect heat recovery technology for pure physical phase change purification, with three core steps:
  1. Heating and Vaporization: The electric heating tube preheats raw water to about 80℃, forming a uniform liquid film on the outer wall of the evaporation tube, which quickly evaporates into pure steam (127℃). Impurities such as inorganic salts, heavy metals and microorganisms remain on the evaporation side.

  2. Multi-effect Heat Exchange: The first-effect steam serves as the heat source for the second effect, with 逐级 evaporation and condensation, realizing cyclic utilization of thermal energy and improving electric heating efficiency by about 43%. A vacuum environment lowers the boiling point, reducing energy consumption and thermal damage.

  3. Condensation and Collection: Pure steam is condensed by heat exchange in the condenser, producing distilled water (conductivity ≤ 1 μS/cm, endotoxin ≤ 0.0625 EU/ml) that meets pharmacopoeia standards for water for injection.

2. Core Industry Applications

  • Pharmaceutical Industry: Production of Water for Injection (WFI), sterile preparations, vaccines, and biological products, complying with GMP/USP/EP standards.

  • Medical Field: Operating room instrument cleaning, pharmaceutical preparation, dialysis water, and pure steam supply for autoclaving.

  • Electronics & Semiconductor: High-purity water for chip cleaning, photolithography, and etching processes to avoid impurity impact on yield.

  • Scientific Research Laboratories: Reagent preparation, spectral/chromatographic analysis, and microbial culture to ensure accurate experimental data.

  • Fine Chemicals: High-purity reagents, catalyst preparation, and chemical reaction make-up water to prevent side reactions and impurity contamination.

  • Battery Industry: Lead-acid battery electrolyte preparation to extend battery life and improve performance.

3. Front-end and Back-end Supporting Facilities

Front-end (Inlet Water Pretreatment)

  • Raw Water Tank + Booster Pump: Stable water supply with pressure of 0.2–0.4MPa.

  • Quartz Sand Filter: Removes sediment and suspended solids to protect evaporation tubes.

  • Activated Carbon Filter: Adsorbs residual chlorine and organic matter to prevent membrane fouling.

  • Water Softener: Reduces hardness to prevent scaling, suitable for multi-effect evaporation.

  • Precision Filter (5 μm): Removes fine particles to ensure inlet water cleanliness.

Back-end (Product Water Storage and Distribution)

  • Sterile Distilled Water Storage Tank (316L Stainless Steel): Sealed and sterile, equipped with a breathing filter.

  • Pure Steam Generator: Online sterilization of pipelines/tanks (121℃) to inhibit microbial growth.

  • Circulation Transfer Pump + Sanitary Piping: Constant-temperature circulation to prevent secondary contamination.

  • Online Monitoring Instruments: Real-time monitoring of conductivity, TOC, and endotoxin to ensure stable water quality.
